Binet-Jacquet cuvée Réserve 2020 (AOC Faugères)

Within the new Occitanie territory, the Languedoc-Roussillon wine region benefits from specific assets in terms of oenology, both through its diverse terroirs and through the alliance of the coast and the mountains. This wine-growing area is the best place for the development of Mediterranean varieties such as Grenache, Cariñena, Syrah, Cinsault and Mourvèdre, precisely those that are proposed in this cuvée Réserve that is going to spend a good season in stainless steel cuve.

Visually we find a medium-high opacity (about a month of maceration). Aromatically  there are a floral and fruity notes coexistation, a fruit at its point of maturity (plum, black fruit of the forest) accompanied by spice and violet echoes. So aromatic Faugères style. A soft, silky and delicate mouth. Timidly rounded attack, pleasant and feminine development, with a medium-elegant structure. A spicy register that goes from less to more and a not too marked freshness marking a sunny origin. A clean finish that corresponds to viticulture and vinification without added sulphites.

The Garnacha variety is the base of this elegant and seductive assemblage that will please all fans of southern red wine. Olivier Binet and Pierre Jacquet propose a price of 48 euros, fully deserved in our opinion. As a pairing, all the delicacies of Mediterranean cuisine can be proposed, and due to its versatility, it can accompany a starter and main meal. Try for example an Almond-crusted goat cheese, strawberries, heart of palms and baby greens salad serving this red at 12.7º C.
