Wine making is like a rally race: you have to finish first. As in all competitive sports, motivation, training and the characteristics of the competitor are crucial to be at the top. In the world of wine it is even more difficult, because anyone with a good piece of land can bring interesting things to the market. The Belgian Dirk Vermeersch knows a lot about competition and competes on the 'French circuit' with a southern Rhône Viognier.
Very pale visually, a subtle straw yellow with dense tears that you confess a 15% vol. An aromatic nose, as always in Viognier, but which can be reminiscent of Muscat: notes of orange blossom or citrus rind. A wide and round entry in the mouth. The fleshy and vibrant development in balance with the freshness of the vintage. Mouth-aromas of ripe white stone fruit on the palate, with herbal and very floral touches. So long finish, spicy and with a little bitterness reminiscent of white citrus.
Suze-la-Rousse is the village where the 24 hecateras of the family settle. A sunny territory at the gates of the noble North Rhône Valley region. This monovarietal has a price of 18 euros that has opened the doors to the best restaurants in the south of France. As a regional pairing we could recommend a Potato and smoked salmon from the Rhône river salad, dijonnaise dressing, fresh herbs, capers, lemon, red onions and radishes. Serve at 13º C as desired in the Viognier.
