Pétale de Muscat sec (IGP Pays d'Oc)

The character of Muscat wines is closely linked to the sunny, Mediterranean climate of the Oc Country. Although its origin is uncertain, no one doubts that it is not far from the areas bathed by the Mediterranean Sea, perhaps in old Hellenic lands. This grape is characterized by its high sugar content and its powerful fruity aroma, and is used to make both sweet and dry wines, such as this cuvée called Pétale without vintage.

In the glass, a lemon yellow color with golden reflections. Classic thiolic notes in the olfactory section: rose, lychee, roasted white fruit and fresh must. A very deep intensity as we expect in 1oo% Moscatel. A dry entrance in the mouth. Wide development, with bitter notes reminiscent of orange peel. Dense texture. It lacks freshness. A dry, fleshy finish, with ripe white fruit echoes and a sad sensation of sulfur excess.

A wine from the Cooperative Society of Frontigan vignerons, in the Languedoc region. There in the village of Frontignan, a place called La Plaine is chosen to harvest the 'small muscat grains', which later, converted into wine, will reach a value of just 6 euros. As a pairing, if we serve at 11º C, the gastronomy of the Amethyst Coast can be proposed: a grilled seafood tray that includes prawns, lobsters and sardines marinated in herbs and garlic.
