Plaimont cuvée De Batz blanc 2020 (AOC Saint-Mont)

The sables fauves (reddish sands), are the soils of the Saint-Mont wine region where local varieties such as Petit Manseng, Gros Manseng, Courbu, Petit Courbu or Arrufiac grow. These varieties that are not yet global represent a richness in the wines of the French South-West. This rainy terroir perfectly drains excess water thanks to the granular soils that absorb only the water they need. Then in the winery we only find quality.

Straw yellow color with lemon reflection typical of the wines of the producer Plaimont. Also some microscopic bubbles. Notes of sage and mandarin orange hallmark of the Sud-Ouest whites. Then notes of hay and the humid meadows of the Gers are added. Dry entry in mouth, development slightly pétillant. Good freshness, Sanit Mont guarantee. Mouth-aromas of citrus (grapefruit, yuzu...), herbal and unripe white stone fruit. Final of 13% very taken from SO2 with a subtle bitter touch.

Quality and excess of sulfur in this cuvée homage to d'Artagnan (Charles de Batz) who is a cultural icon of the Gers province. The Plaimont producer values this bottle at 5.70 euros, for sale in a large French commercial area. As a pairing, if we serve at 11º C, a generous terrine of Sud Ouest Foie Gras or a good portion of Thérondels cheese, made from cow's milk, will shine.
