Alvarinho
variety
is cultivated in 17oo Ha around all Portugal, although it is native
to the Iberian Northwest (Galicia and banks of Minho
river). It is on the right bank of this river where this reference
proceeds, more specifically 148 km south from Minho
river (Penafiel,
Sousa
subregion).
Yellow
straw colour. Intense nose with citrus and white flower as
protagonists. In the background, mineral echoes, prairie and an
indication of good acidity. Light,
feminine and easy to drink mouth (12 % vol.).
You can sense the white fruit of bone next to others like the
grapefruit. Short end where floral and mineral notes return.
It
is not an Alvarinho as aromatic as the Galician but it is more
conomical (4'99 euros in R. Leclerc supermarkets). Is a nice white
wine that is made in Quinta Avaleda, a family winery with very famous
wine brands like 'Casal García'. Good pairing with seafood,
whitefood, seafood rice or soft cheeses.
