Alentejo
it means beyond Tejo (river). This region and wine-region is located
in center-south in Portugal (a beautiful
country in Iberian Peninsula since from
1640). In this wine region we can find two different wine labels of
different category: DOC Alentejo equivalent the (A.O.C and D.O. In
France and Spain) and V.R Alentejano (Vinho
Regional – Regional Wine)
a lower category but not
necessarily of lower quality.
Visually
a very deep colour with a evolutionated border (3
month
getting old
between french and american oak barrels). Numerous
and
slow tears. Medium intensity in first nose for red bush in a april
fresh meadow. A complex second nose : eucalyptus, smoked and mineral
hints. A round attack (14 % vol.), Silky,
fleshy
and
spicy
developement with little ripe fruits, hearty and herbal mouthfeel. A
good acidity for a good balance and a warm end with subtle oak notes.
A red
grapes blend very well understood by Rui
Reguinga (enologist in this winery located in
Low Alentejo with 200 hectares). Aragonez in 4o % (aka Tempranillo,
contributes the capacity of aging
), Trincadeira 4o%
(give the acidity), Touriga Nacional 1o%
(gives the structure) and Alicante
1o% (apporting that very deep color). Castelo Branco family propose a
price of 7 € / 7'91$
+- perfect for charcuterie (pates, saucissons) or traditional
alentejan Cozido (dish
of boiled Portugueses sausages and vegetables almost always makes it
to the dinner table ). Serve in 13º / 14º C.
