Gigondas is a village
situated in the foothills of the Dentelles de Montmirail mountain
range and lies about 35 km (22 miles) north of Avignon. The terrain
of Gigondas is mostly comprised of rolling hills and valleys with
vineyards and olive groves. The Gigondas vineyard get a Mediterranean
climate characterized by hot, dry summers and mild wet winters. The
soils here are composed mostly of red clay and limestone, much of
which is derived from the limestone formations of the Dentelles. The
elevation of Gigondas is varied (650-1340 ft) above Mediterranean sea
level.
A Garnacha – Syrah – Mourvèdre with a medium opacity typical of Gigondas reds, with an evolutionary edge (uncorked three years after harvest). Ripe fruit greets the nose on a spicy background. It takes a few minutes to open up and show the beginning of evolution touches (spice and leather). A round and fruity entry into the mouth. The development with volume shows off a fruit at its point of maturity marked by a trail of spice. Half structure. Finish of integrated warmth (15% vol.).
