Domaine Saparale Oenoteca Minustellu 2019 (Vin de France)

The Minustellu variety is one of the autochthonous red grapes of Corsica island (France) along with others such as Aleaticu, Muresconu, Barbarossa or Carcaghjolu (red). All of them have in common their tradition for complementary use in wineries assemblages. Currently, thanks to new winemaking technologies, we can find very positive monocépage results of these 'support' varieties. This is the 1oo% old vines Minustellu version of Domaine Saparale (basse Corse).

We find in the visual a medium to delicate opacity that will make us discard a heavy wine in any case. In the aromatic section, it requires a few minutes of oxygenation... the reward will be a complexity around family notes of hunting: animal, deer major hunt or butchery from Sartène village. In mouth we find a roundness on the palate that immediately invites freshness for a superb balance. There is a lot of vibrant fruit, accompanied by spicy and even mineral notes. Never a trace of its passage through large-capacity oak demi-muids. Its 14% vol seems several less.

The elaboration of this granitic red is very limited since it is a concept of micro-cuvée, therefore valued at 42 euros. By the way, the 2019 is one of the best vintages that can be remembered on the island. Domaine Saparale is a essential wineries of the 'Sartenais' wine-growing area, along with Sant'Armettu, Pero Longo, Mondoloni or Domaine Castellu di Baricci. As a pairing to this Minustellu, we must think of existing Mediterranean and Tyrrhenian delicacies such as Faraona alla cacciatora: a delicious pheasant stewed with onion, pomodoro, garlic and Corsican spices.
