Domaine Pellehaut Chardonnay 2022 (IGP Côtes de Gascogne): the country of Armagnac is also a country of great whites

This domaine is one of the most historics in the Gascony slopes wine regions. Located in the Low Armagnac sub-zone and led by Mathieu and Martin Béraut, the wines and armagnacs are a reflection of the clay-limestone terroir that predominates in its 300 hectares (not all of them dedicated to vineyards). Their Chardonnay from limestone soils is renowned for its quality, which has earned it its own cuvée and ended up on this blog.

Straw yellow with greenish reflections... yes, we are looking at a true 2022 vintage. A nose dominated by exotic fruits: mango, pineapple, passion fruit, all on a herbal background from the Gascony meadows. In the mouth an entry of timid roundness. The tropical touch returns in the development, always silky, gras (4 months on lees), but with a freshness that is 'simply there'. Final of 12% vol. where ripe white stone fruit beats the rest of the exotic fruit. Very good.

Thank you Martin and Mathieu for this portion of bottled Montréal-du-Gers village. A Chardonnay different from those of Burgundy that once again demonstrates the chameleonic capacity of surprising all amateurs. Reference valued at 9 euros that includes a Haute Valeur Environnamental seal (High Environmental Value). You will enjoy it with your wife, or with a friend, around delicious preparations with seasonal products.
