Domaine Saparale Oenoteca rosé 2020 (Vin de France): Corsican premium wines don't need to be AOC

The Oenoteca range is a poem to the special wines and viticultural peculiarities that we only find in Domaine Saparale (south-west Corse). This rosé has no rules: it only pleases whoever decides to uncork the bottle. It is a plot where red and white vines coexist, so it is time to let our imagination and intuition guess whether there is a little Vermentino, a little Minustellu, Carcaghjolu, Biancu Gentile or Aleatico.

Visually we find great clarity, possibly halfway between white and copper tones. On the nose we find aromas of acidic red fruits, memories of pastries (tarte tatin especially) and a background of banana among other exotic fruits. In the mouth, a wide and round entrance. Development of great balance between freshness and richness. The finesse at all times is very pleasant to the palate. It is not at all marked by the 400 liter demi-muid where it has fermented. Still fruity finish where strawberry caramel stands out.

Yes, a plot I co-planted more than 50 years ago and several years in the bottle are capable of this. And all that has a value: in this case about 40 euros for a premium rosé. Mediterranean and Corsican cuisine is the most suitable for this wonder: for example, a Fritelle au Brocciu, secondly some eggplants stuffed with brocciu passu and, thirdly, cannellonis à la brousse with spinach. Approfitta di questa delizia, signora!
