Domaine Saparale rouge Casteddu 2021 (AOC Corse Sartène): grape variety festival on the seashore of Corsica

The Casteddu (Casttle) range from Saparale winery, created in 2001, seeks to offer the complexity and gastronomic vocation of its wines. As for its red, we are talking about an assemblage of five varieties to ensure that complexity and the Corse Sartène label making it clear that this red will offer body and solidity. The chosen varieties are Sangiovese adapted to Corsica (Niellucio), along with Sciaccarellu, Carcaghjolu, Minustellu and Aleatico.

Visually we see a deep color, the result of its 30 days of maceration. On the nose we find that promised complexity and richness, which mixes primary notes of berry fruit with others developed during its twelve months of aging in foudre and barrel. Round attack in the mouth even though it is a cold vintage. Development of good structure and of course that granite freshness. Elegance and finesse. The ripe fruit is expressed along with a tannin that still accepts cellaring.

This vintage is the first that Saparale winery has introduced the Aleatico variety (red Muscat), which like all Muscat variants offers an extra aroma. All that quality, all that work, is valued at only €29. The pairing is the most desired by lovers of Mediterranean cuisine. Try some Corsica lamb skewers with rosemary, white wine from domaine Fiumicicoli and lemon. Recommended service temperature is 13º C.
