Domaine Sant Armettu cuvée Rosumarinu 2022 (AOC Corse Sartène): Mediterranean purity and liveliness from the southwest of Corsica

Sciacarellu is the cépage from southern Corse that many compare with Pinot Noir. Truly an exciting variety because it develops an elegance capable of accompanying us at any time of the day. It is fermented grape juice. It is the other side of Corsican red wines, as it is the opposite of Nielluciu. Its name means 'bursts between the teeth', highlighting its liveliness and taste. A variety that is one of the oenological treasures of Corsica, tailored to the flavors and gastronomic propositions of the island. We are clear about it: when it is vinified by those who know, it is better than any Burgundy red.

Low opacity, with quick and transparent tear. A powerful, very aromatic nose that first evokes red berry fruit notes with others of leather, smoke, licorice and caramel. An expression of purity where there is place for blood orange, spices or cherries hints. Outstanding. Round and very pleasant entrance in mouth. A liveliness that is immediately apparent thanks to the granite terroir of the Sartène sub-zone. Light development, with a good freshness but full of sensations. A splash of berry fruit at its point of maturity, which manifests itself in a fragile and feminine way. Very dynamic in short. Long, spicy finish, without tannins and clean thanks to the philosophy of natural intervention if ever necessary.

Yes, its graduation is 13.5% but believe me when I tell you that it only looks twelve. My friend Gilles Seroin, whom I met at the domaine near to Propriano. With his son I understood why Sant Armettu is one of the best wineries in Corsica. This expression of Sciacarellu is valued at 22 euros, and when you uncork the bottle you will know why I paid that. Served below 12º C, it will accompany salads and tapas based on Corsican cheeses and charcuterie (brocciu and figatellu). Served above 12º C it will accompany baked fish, grilled white meats or seafood rices. One of the most versatile wines of the Mediterranean.
